Ever wanted to touch the future? Now you can.
The Sony Xperia Touch is a unique short-throw projector with the ability to project not just images and video, but a fully interactive display.
Android 7 powers the Xperia Touch, with complete access to apps, games as well as your personal notifications and accounts. The projector is much more than just a display unit, designed to become a portable centre point of the home.
This technology has advanced quickly in a short space of time. Originally showcased in large display units just a few years ago, the technology has been successfully miniaturised into the new Xperia Touch. This portable weighs under a kilogram and is easily carried from one location to the next. Yet it is capable of displaying a massive 80-inch widescreen image on any surface from just a short distance away.
Thanks to a combination of infrared sensors and lasers to calculate distances, the Xperia Touch can pinpoint an attempt to touch the projected image.
When a solid object interferes with the stream, should it be calculated the same distance away as the overall projection surface at that point in the stream, a touch is registered. Using Android as a base for the system interface, 10 point multitouch is supported.
Far more than a simple projector, Xperia Touch has full Wi-Fi capabilities for an Internet connection.
Treated like a piece of intelligent smart home equipment, the unit can respond to queries and search requests either via the Sony Assistant or Google Assistant, with the added benefit of projecting the results into a fully interactive display.
Imagine this scenario: You ask out loud to search for a Thai restaurant. The results are listed on your coffee table, collated by Google Assistant and displayed by the Xperia Touch. You pick one and tap the result to open it in Maps. You finish up the interaction by tapping on the table to save a route and set a reminder. No need to open your phone - everything is completed via speech and touch via the projector. When you head to the car later, the saved route is available in Maps as you dock your phone securely in the car dash.
With Internet access, you can also stream from popular sources such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime and more. Try setting the Xperia Touch up in your kitchen. Throw a video on to the worktop surface and easily pause and resume while you work, without the risk of dropping a phone or tablet or getting it dirty.
Sony Xperia Touch also has a proximity sensor. The system can recognise when someone approaches, quickly booting up to show unread messages, notifications or notes from the rest of the house you ought to be taking notice of!

You can ask what the nearest shop is and follow it up with "What time does it close?" to get all the information you need.
Google Assistant can also help you with things like your commute, schedule and more.
Ask Google Home to stream videos to your TV. With Chromecast you can stream shows from your mobile to your TV. Or ask Google Home to turn up the temperature on your Nest thermostat.
