Comparing the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

Comparing the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

The two google pixel phones look relatively similar and use Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back. The models differentiate in a few areas such as the size. The Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution panel whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7 inch panel and a 120Hz refresh rate with a QHD resolution panel on the base. Camera Google usually places a large focus on the cameras and mobile photography in their new phones and the 6 is no exception. The Pixel 6 has a dual camera consisting of a: 50 – mega pixel (f/1.85), wide angle sensor with OIS and a 12-megapixel (f/2.2) ultra-wide angle sensor with a 114-degree field of view. The 6 Pro has a triple camera set up consisting of: the same 50-megapixel wide angle sensor and 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, along with an additional 48-megapixel (f/3.5) telephoto sensor. None the less they have the same extensive range of photography features such as the portrait mode, super res zoom and nightlight and the same range of tools such as the magic eraser to remove unwanted objects, face unblur to sharpen faces, real tone to represent a range of skin tones better and motion mode to introduce more movement into action shots. Specs and features-  The Pixel 6 is the first google smartphone to feature the brands own Google Tensor Google chipset. You may be asking yourself what this is and why it’s so relevant? This tensor is a custom piece of silicon designed by Google to be efficient in the things the company prioritize the most such as machine learning-related workloads. Tensor is a significant step up from the chips Google used in the previous generation Pixel 5  The 5G chip powers the new image processing features such as the all-day adaptive battery, the live auto-translation feature and offers built-in protection with the titan M2 security coprocessor Both phones have the same chipset but the Pixel 6 pairs it with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while the 6 Pro offers 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage Both phones use the latest version of Googles operating system android 12 and audio features including stereo speakers, three built in microphones and noise suppression. The Google Pixel 6 uses a 4,614 mAh battery and the Pixel 6 Pro uses a 5,003 mAh battery. Google says both phones have beyond 24 hour battery life and up to 48 hours battery saver mode turned on. Sony Xperia 5 III

Sony Xperia 5 III

The Sony Xperia 5 III is a compact alternative to the standard flagship. It is available at Clove technology for £898.99 and is currently on offer to include a pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones worth £250 and an official style cover with stand. This offer is only available while stocks last. It comes in the typical smart white box that Sony has used for years. The box includes the phone wrapped in a little plastic cover, and a start-up guide. Then we have the 30-watt USB Power Delivery adaptor plug and a USB- C cable to go with it. This phone has iP65/68 water resistance and dust protection meaning that it is protected against low pressure water jets from any direction and partnered with the cornering gorilla glass 6 on the front of the phone meaning it can endure drops from a whopping 1.6m together making it extra robust and resistant to damage. This phone has a 6.1” OLED display and 120Hz refresh rate with a standard 1080p resolution together with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform allows for powerful top tier performances. You also get 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM which can be expanded using the micro-SD slot. This phone being android 11 means it has PS4 remote play with dual shock 4 control compatibility. There is a triple rear camera 12MP ultrawide lens, a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP periscope lens then on the front, there’s an 8MP selfie snapper. In my opinion the back cameras show colour very crisp and vibrantly giving a professional look to the images with the automatic background blur when it is focused on a subject adding the photographic depth of field effect. I was really impressed by the variations of different cameras from an ultra-wide lens to a very zoomed in periscope lens. The front camera is very high definition and detailed, but unfortunately, I found the colours did not show up so vividly, but this can be changed by enhancing the image edit section after the image is taken. There is an on / off button which is also a fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone and a front facing audio – dual speakers which produces a stereo effect. When playing music out loud I didn’t notice the stereo effect so much, but it was still very clear and HD. When using headphones, the stereo effect was a lot more obvious and impressive. In my opinion this is a really fast, high quality and light weight phone that is really easy to navigate. Find the Sony Xperia 5 III here: www.clove.co.uk/products/sony-xperia-5-iii

MOTOROLA DEFY

MOTOROLA DEFY

The Motorola Defy is created to endure activities and adventures you go on with its many protective features that do not compromise the battery life or performance. The protective features include: -Being waterproof in depths up to 1.5m for 35 minutes as well as being dustproof. -The phone can be cleaned with sanitiser or soap ensuring it stays hygienic. - It can endure extreme temperatures of up to 35 degrees and -55 degrees - it can handle drops of up to 1.8m -Textured body to provide extra grip -Screen is made of Gorilla Glass Victus (the latest toughened glass) -Can be used with wet fingers.   The Motorola Defy has a 6.5” HD IPS display and a 720p resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate, allowing an average quality media viewing.  It won’t be the best for pro gaming but that is expected from a rugged phone in this price range. On the back of the phone there is a Quad Camera set up: a main 48MP camera, macro lens, selfie snapper and a depth sensor. We found that the main camera took good images in daylight, however if surroundings are quite dark the image is rather grainy. The macro camera made images a little unsaturated but providing the image is taken near enough to the object, the actual image is clear and crisp. To test out the durability of the Defy we went to a lake to dip it into murky water and drop it onto different surfaces such as dirt and concrete to see how rugged it really was. Our results found that even when it was wet and dirty it worked to the same ability as before which we found impressive. The screens sensitivity was up to scratch as if it were dry, which we feel is key for a phone built for outdoor challenges. The corners of the phone did show light scuffing due to being dropped but the screen was unscratched. The phone comes with a heavy-duty wrist strap that attaches to the bottom of the phone for further drop prevention. In our opinion the size and weight of this device is great for a rugged phone as it is not too heavy, and the screen is big enough to view media. Overall, the number of protective features provided for the price of this phone holds great value for money. The main drawback to this phone is the camera quality as it did struggle to pick up detail when there was not enough light, and it also left macro images slightly unsaturated.  To summarise, this phone is perfectly rugged for someone on a budget – we definitely recommend!   Shop the Motorola Defy-  https://www.clove.co.uk/products/motorola-defy-2021

SONY XPERIA 1 III

SONY XPERIA 1 III

SONY XPERIA 1 III   With the Sony Xperia 1 III, you can experience breath-taking speed in everything you do. It draws on Sony expertise in both visual and audio to produce an incredible smartphone. The 6.5" 4K HDR OLED 21:9 CinemaWide display offers a mesmerising experience as you watch media content. With a cinematic aspect ratio, you can enjoy your films with a high 4K resolution. The screen is the perfect size - not too big and not too small, I can type easily one handed but also enjoy watching videos or playing games. The device has smooth navigation through menus and scrolling in games. With the 120Hz refresh rate, it ensures you have a fast and interactive experience. The 240Hz Motion Blur reduction technology, means there is a reduction in frame lag, giving you a clearer image on the screen. BRAVIA HDR remaster technology improves everything you watch, even streaming content with improvements to contrast, colour, and clarity. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform with 12GB of RAM ensures you have the maximum performance to take advantage of the features and capabilities of the Xperia 1 III. There is 256GB of internal storage supplied and compatibility with 1TB SD cards if you need more space for your photography or movie interests. Unfortunately, this phone does not have face unlock, but this is only a slight drawback. 5G mobile data connectivity offers you the ability to share high-quality content on social media with friends. You can also connect to the internet and download data incredibly fast. The Sony Xperia 1 III also benefits from adaptive charging which monitors your battery and keeps it healthy for longer by ensuring it is not overworked, improving its lifespan. The battery is 4500 MAH and when you need to charge, the fast charger will add up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes.  Alternatively, place your Xperia 1 iii on a wireless charger to top up your battery conveniently. Sony again has offered exceptional photography capabilities on this flagship smartphone. The rear camera set up is arranged in a vertical formation which includes a trio of 12MP lenses; the first is a wide lens, second a telephoto lens and finally an ultra-wide lens. The camera benefits from real time eye autofocus and focal lengths of 16mm, 24mm, 70 mm and 105mm. Sony have also partnered up with Zeiss again to produce some great quality pictures as shown here. The front camera is 8MP. Overall, yes we are very impressed. The highlights for me is definitely the design of the phone, the display and the cameras. There is not really any major drawback. I would like to see face unlick though as this comes in very handy.   Shop the Sony Xperia 1 III- https://www.clove.co.uk/products/sony-xperia-1-iii
