This is my 3rd CAT, following a 60 and a 61. So far I am very pleased with the phone as it is performing perfectly. It arrived with Android 10 but I followed the CAT update prompts and as soon as the CAT software updated Android 11 followed. After the 61 it feels less bulky which is nice. All the features I need and the FLIR is excellent. Definitely my favourite tough phone!
CAT S62 Pro
Great phone, and a decent upgrade from my old CAT S60. As a wilderness worker and bushcraft instructor, it does what I need it to do. Robust as ever, and doing a great job for me working in wet, muddy, forest environments in UK where the weather is not the best in the whole world. I had its predecessor (my old CAT S60) with me for a number of years in UK forests, and in a river I fell into, but also in the gritty and dusty Mojave and Death Valley, and it performed perfectly and kept the dust and grit out. I expect the S62 to perform at least as well. It's peace of mind, knowing I'm not going to break it or drown it. I'm sure it will be with me for several years, like its predecessor (CAT S60) has been, which means although it's pricey it has a long and hard working life ahead of it which puts that cost into perspective. Battery is performing well, so far only charging every couple of days.
It's early days yet to do a full review of the CAT, as it's longevity being subjected to harsh environments is the measure of its true performance.
It's light, seems robust, the camera does what I need it to although it hasn't been tested fully yet.
One thing that draws me to a mobile is the Dual SIM function, which has left me a little disappointed somewhat. Advertised as dual SIM is one thing that sold it to me. It would seem though I've been used to having my cake and eating it over the years, as all my other phones offered this additional to a micro SD, where as the CAT offers either one or the other. However it's not a complete let down because the internal memory is more than capable of storing everything you need. And the SIM to SD swap is easily accessible without the need to get out a screwdriver.
The graphics and screen are much clearer, brighter & sharper than my previous Android phone, which I would expect. But I do feel a little let down by the tools that come standard, being that this phone is aimed at the contractor/construction market, having far fewer than my previous non CAT Android phone.
The phone has played up, nothing major but played up none the less, this may be user error but the jury is still out. You see, I always leave my phone face down at night whilst charging so as not to disturb my nights slumber with charging lights, notifications etc. One night I wake to find the bedroom lit up by the torch, which had somehow activated itself, the jury is still out as this could have also been attributed to user error.
The touch screen is very sensitive, but then again sometimes not. It will operate a didgit on the keyboard sometimes just by simply hovering your finger close to the screen, but then on other occasions when operating a button press it does nothing, have also experienced freezing.
