This month the new CAT B40 and CAT S42H+ will be released which we are very excited about! I am here to let you know what to expect from these two new models. CAT have a long history of producing rugged phones and these models definitely continue this legacy with some exciting, much needed, hygiene technology.
B40
Let’s start with the B40. The CAT B40 has been designed to be tough and reliable, so you can depend on it no matter your occupation. This phone is deliberately not packed with complex features, and instead focuses on being durable and simple to use, even under pressure. This includes being IP68 and IP69 certified, meaning it is sand, dust, dirt and waterproof to a depth of 1.2 metres for up to 35 minutes. It also adheres to MIL-Spec 810H and can deal with repeated drops from 1.8 metres to concrete or steel.
CAT have responded to COVID-19 with a product that has hygiene in mind. For the first time ever, all external components have been blended with silver ion-based antimicrobial additive for exceptional Germ Defense keeping you, your colleagues, and your family safe. This inhibits the spread of bacteria by 80% in 15 minutes and 99% in 24 hours. Peter Cunningham - Bullitt Group product portfolio VP explained that the reasons our phones get so dirty is because of the heat they produce, meaning bacteria can thrive. We then take our phones everywhere with us which means we pick up and spread new contaminants. He said they are proud to introduce these antibacterial devices which will help reduce risk.
The CAT B40 device comes with a 2-year warranty and is equipped with a 2MP camera and a 3.5mm audio jack.
S42H+
Now let’s discuss the CAT S42H+. The CAT S42 H+ also has the new hygiene technology in place to protect users. It combines all the benefits of modern technology, including Android 10, with a design that includes IP68 and IP69 water/dust resistance and compliance with MIL-SPEC 810H. The CAT S42H+ is a phone made for people who need more from their smartphone as it blends a rugged phone with antimicrobial silver ions making it perfect for harsh weather conditions or hygienic conscious environment.
This new device has an extended battery life of 4200 MAH for 2 full days of usage. It has a bigger memory and a larger, brighter touchscreen than the classic CAT S42. Like many other CAT phones, the S42H+ has a screen that works with gloves and is readable in full sunlight as well as being completely drop proof. Of course, it is fully submergible in water up to 1.5m for 35 minutes and interestingly is bleach and chemical resistant so it can be wiped clean of any bacteria.
