Have you ever thought of trading in your old smartphone?

Recycling your phone is a great way to help the environment and earn some extra money, and Clove Technology offers a recycling programme that pays you for your old phone(s)!

So if you're about to buy a new phone from us, or you've recently bought one, why not sell us the handset you no longer need?

How much will you offer for my phone?

That depends on its age and condition. More recent phones generally have a higher value than old ones, but other factors can affect value. These include if the phone is working or not and its network lock status. Fully working phones with an unlocked network status will command a higher value if they are in good condition.

We pledge to beat the major recycling services operating in the UK on the price they offer for your

Great use of Old with New technology.

Quality phone, great camera, strong and durable. Replacable battery is a good option to have, finically and environmentally.

The ideal online store

This was as close to a perfect online purchasing experience as one could imagine. From the pre-order support via e-mail. to the rapid activation and shipping of the phone, to the kind inclusion of a wall charger of the proper plug format, all went above and beyond expectation. The phone is working perfectly and provides the dual-SIM capability I could not obtain in a North American model.

A rugged phone with few compromises

Having spent weeks comparing various handsets I eventually decided to go for the Galaxy Xcover Pro. I had an Xcover 3 a few years ago which did me well for 3 years but eventually lacked the memory and power for the latest apps. This handset has no issues with lack of either.

It is somewhat larger than the Xcover 3 and only just fits into pockets, any bigger and it wouldn't suit being carried outdoors while working. It does have a large, clear screen though which is bright enough to view in sunlight, an excellent camera for general use and a good battery life. I routinely leave Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services off unless I need them. In this way I can get 3 to 4 days use from a charge with a daily mix of 45 minutes of calls, a few emails, half an hour web browsing, a few photos and 30 or so texts. It charges fully from 15% in under 2 hours with the fast charger.

Bluetooth connects well to my earpiece, it holds the Wi-Fi signal well from our router, it hangs on to the weak mobile 4G signal here much better than the Moto G5S it replaced and it picks up a gps fix quickly when needed.

I'd read that the call sound quality was a little poor but I've found it perfectly acceptable and the volume is good. The maximum ringer volume is good, a key issue when I'm working in noisy tractors. The fingerprint reader has worked 100% making the handset easy and quick for intermittent use.

So far I have left the Xcover key unassigned to avoid accidentally triggering apps and I have done my best to disable the irrelevant and annoying Bixby "assistant".

I haven't yet tested the robustness but knowing it passes the MIL spec and IP69 means I don't worry about it unduly. I'd recommend it as a farmers phone.

Overall I am happy with the purchase and expect to get 3 or 4 years use from it.

Rugged but Annoying

The Galaxy XCover Pro is tough and chunky and gives me everything I want - FM radio, compass capability, a replaceable battery and plenty of storage for Ordnance Survey maps. It has some truly annoying features, too. Bixby, for starters, is utterly unnecessary. Then there is a yellow cast to the photos, meaning I have to work in PRO mode all the time, except PRO mode isn't available on videos. The Auto-tag feature, which I cannot disable, is intrusive and insists on cataloguing English oaks as "banyan trees". The Xcover side key has to be associated with an app or function. It cannot be assigned to do nothing so it keeps on doing something, accidentally. And the philosophy seems to be, why use one swipe when two will do?

I am enjoying using the phone, but I am going to keep my trusty Galaxy J3 as backup until that reaches the end of its natural life.

XcoverPro

For a Pro model, I'm left wanting more, this is a mid-range semi rugged phone. Poor and annoying implementation of physical buttons and bio-metrics. Mediocre battery, poor performance , but camera is OK not great. Un-reassuring physical construction, feels like it won't withstand much abuse, only time will tell on this
